Kevin Galvin has worked to bring the voice of small business into the debate about health care reform. As the Chair of Small Businesses for Health Care Reform, as well as an advisor to the Connecticut Health Care Advocate, Kevin has helped policymakers understand how hard it is for a small business to compete without access to quality, affordable health care.

Kevin testified at a public hearing of the Public Health Committee of the Connecticut State legislature on March 2, 2009. Here is an excerpt from his testimony.

"If we don't find a way to make quality and affordable health care available to people with the desire and the guts to run small businesses, it will be yet another reason for these people not to invest in Connecticut's economy."

Kevin has also appeared in a video explaining SustiNet, a comprehensive health care reform proposal that has been passed by both Houses of the Connecticut State legislature, and is currently awaiting action by Governor M. Jodi Rell. SustiNet was developed with the involvement of dozens of small business owners and Chamber of Commerce directors, to be supportive to small business.

In addition, Kevin was invited to Washington, DC by the Main Street Alliance to bring the message of small business' need for qualilty, affordable health care to members of Congress.

Kevin believes that small business owners need to be heard in this debate. Their need for affordable benefits for their employees and themselves and their families must be addressed.
